New batch of NIO ES8 to be delivered on June 28

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- William Li, founder and CEO of NIO announced on June 23 that the EV startup will start to deliver the ES8 from June 28 on. However, the specified delivery volume hasn't been determined yet.

At the end of last month, NIO delivered around 10-unit ES8 to a few customers, who mainly are staff members of NIO. The coming delivery can be regarded as the commencement of their official delivery. 

Previously, it is disclosed that NIO planned to deliver 550 ES8s by the end of June. However, the plan was postponed to July 10 for several reasons. As William Li revealed, the ES8 can receive a subsidy up to RMB 45,000 per year.

As to the key manufacturing issue, William Li stated that NIO is striving to scramble up in vehicle manufacturing, and the NIO ES8 has already started transportation. The delivery which was forecasted to take place in March was postponed indeed, because NIO added a great number of internal testing models to further strengthen the adaption of software and hardware for the ES8, and NIO is striving to enlarge production capacity.

According to William Li's view, the new delivery from June 28 will exert little impact to most consumers. Some customers may pick up their cars half or one month later. Other consumers are likely to pick up their cars as scheduled.

NIO also drafted the compensation measures for the postponed delivery, saying that if customers' scheduled month of car delivery was postponed, NIO will grant 2,000 credits per day from the first day of the following month till the day they pick up their cars through NIO App.

Currently, NIO has six NIO Houses in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Nanjing. By the end of September, NIO Houses will be expanded in nine cities. Moreover, NIO will increase the number of NIO House to 15 across 13 cities in China.

 

 

Renault-Brillance-Jinbei to roll out 7 new models, including BEV

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Renault-Brilliance-Jinbei Automotive Co.,Ltd, a joint venture between French's Groupe Renault and Brilliance China Automotive, plans to roll out 7 new models by 2022, according to local media. Reportedly, the new models to be released comprise the Renault-branded Trafic and Master (including its BEV version), Jinbei F50 BEV and Jinbei F70, along with the co-developed new Jinbei light commercial vehicle model (including BEV version). In addition, the annual production capacity will still remain 150,000 units, the same as the existing capacity. According to news from local government, the joint venture will invest RMB 3,729.9 million in adaptive revamp of the existing public facilities. Based on the existing manufacturing assembly lines and auxiliary equipment, the program will focus on upgrading the current painting workshop, building new painting workshop and test track as well as some processing equipment, mould, fixture and gauge. The Jinbei F50 is a 7-seat MPV model for family needs, priced between RMB 60,000 to RMB 90,000. It boasts a 56mm crumple zone, which can protect passengers from a head-on crash by dampening the impact force. The Jinbei F50 sports a relatively low fuel consumption of 6.7L per 100km and ample power by virtue of a 1.6L engine using VVT (variable valve timing) and DHOC (dual overhead camshafts) technologies. In addition, the model is also fitted with many safety facilities, like ABS (anti-lock brake system), EBD (electric brake force distribution) and airbags, etc.

BYD Profits Decline After Subsidy Cuts In China

Previous and the latest Chinese adjustment for New Energy Vehicles subsidies makes earning on plug-in cars challenging.

BYD already proposed to increase incentives, but as subsidies are lower, profitability is decreasing by up to around 90%.

“(As we are) affected by reduction in new energy vehicles (NEVs) subsidies, the profitability of the business, especially for electric buses, has declined substantially so as to bring great pressure to the group’s overall profit,” BYD said.

The company expects its first-quarter net profit to slump 75.2-91.8 percent from a year ago due to the subsidy cuts.

That would put profits for the three months to March between 50 million yuan ($7.96 million) and 150 million yuan, versus 605.8 million yuan a year ago.”

Lower-range NEVs and some electric buses were affected by the cuts, while the longest-range NEVs enjoys higher subsidies. For BYD, the current situation brings 10% decline on the stock market.

We are not so sure whether the Chinese government will be able to manage the NEVs market through manual-control. In the end, some businesses will win or lose depending on the changes and the risk is high right now.

NIO eve concept to debut at Auto China 2018

It is reported that the NIO eve concept will make its debut at Auto China 2018. The new model, based on the designing idea of future transportation, will come with NOMI artificial intelligent system. 

 

The concept model adopts a very futuristic exterior design style, featuring an unmistakable front end. With headlights and engine hood connected together and a large intake grille, the model demonstrates a strong high-tech sense. 

 

Featuring smooth sidelines, the model also is equipped with side windows which can adjust the transparency of the glass. It boasts a multilayered rear end. In addition, the model also offers a full-glass roof and a panoramic front windshield, looking more futuristic. 

 

Designed simply and neatly in its interior, the model boasts a wrap-around cabin with a wide variety of cutting-edge amenities, such as a center console featuring several LCD screens and a rectangular float-designed steering wheel. Moreover, the crucial information like speed and navigation can be projected on the front windshield glass.

 

Adopting side-slide design on the doors, the model can carry six passengers and features foldable tables and full flat-bed seats, providing comfortable space for passengers.

 

What's more, the NIO eve concept also adopts NOMI artificial intelligent interaction system, which has also been deployed in the NIO ES8. The premium system offers abundant functions with capabilities of learning and adapting customers' needs.

Sales growth of Chinese new energy PVs in first two months triples that of globe to 159% year on year

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) revealed on Apr. 3 that sales of Chinese NEV passenger vehicles soared 159% year on year to 61,000 units in the first two months this year. The global deliveries of NEVs reached 164,000 units with a YoY surge of 47% during the first two months this year.

As is analyzed, it is normal that China saw robust sales growth in the first two months because January and February are great period to deliver NEVs. In March, the prices of NEV models which were newly released turned to be more cost-efficient. Chinese NEVs showed a trend of shaking off the influence of subsidy policy and developing independently.

Chinese NEVs performed increasing well in the global NEV market. In 2016, Chinese NEVs accounted for 45% share of global NEV market. And the figure rose to 47% in 2017. During the first two month of 2018, the figure was 37%, jumping 16% compared to the same period last year. However, other major countries saw shrink of their NEV market shares in the first two months of this year.

In terms of pure electric vehicle segment, Chinese pure electric passenger vehicles took up 47% share of global pure electric vehicles in the first two months this year, up 12% year on year. CPCA expected that China will see a robust sales growth of NEVs in 2018.
